EW – The Vikings panel at San Diego Comic-Con is always a raucous affair, but expect an especially wild time with the HISTORY series this year. Coming off a radical season that saw major characters depart the series, this year’s Vikings panel will include longtime stars Katheryn Winnick, Gustaf Skarsgard, and Alexander Ludwig, along with new key figure Alex Hogh Anderson (who plays devious rising conqueror Ivar) and the show’s creator Michael Hirst.
But Vikings is also staging a major event: An honest-to-god Viking Funeral, complete with a procession through the Gaslamp Quarter on Friday afternoon. The funeral will culminate at 7 p.m. local time with a pyrotechnic display on a 45-foot Viking longship, on the waterfront behind the Convention Center at Embarcadero Marina Park South. (Anyone who attends the latter can pick up their own Viking drinking horn.)
In addition, the cast will take over EW’s Snapchat account all day Friday for an inside look at all their goings on throughout the day (yes, including that Viking Funeral). Follow along by adding EWSnaps on Snapchat.
DEADLINE – Adam Copeland, former WWE Superstar Edge, is set for a recurring role in the upcoming fifth season of the hit History drama series Vikings.
Copeland will play Ketill Flatnose, a fierce and brave warrior, chosen by Floki to be one of the leaders of the Viking party intent on traveling to Iceland to set up a community there. He joins Jonathan Rhys Meyers who was previously announced as joining the Season 5 cast.
Copeland previously recurred on Syfy’s Haven and next will be seen in WWE’s action-thriller Interrogation. He is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and OAZ & Associates.
Inquisitr – Fans of History’s Vikings can officially get excited about Season 5 after Katheryn Winnick posted a video to Instagram about the new season. It seems Ragnar will also be present. However, the character of Rollo will be absent for at least part of the Season 5.
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains information and speculation about Season 4 and 5 of History Channel’s Vikings. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.
Vikings Season 4 is currently on hiatus until later in the year after History decided to issue double the episodes this season and split the season over 2016 into two, 10-episode segments. History has not released when the second half of Season 4 of Vikings will return; however, Katheryn Winnick (who plays main character, Lagertha), has excited fans by releasing a short new video to her Instagram account announcing that filming has begun on Season 5 of Vikings.
But what can fans expect to see in Season 5 of Vikings? Will Ragnar, Lagertha, and the rest of the original cast still be present?
Considering Katheryn Winnick posted the Season 5 announcement video, it seems likely she will be present for at least part of Season 5 of Vikings. This means that Lagertha must survive the wounds inflicted on her in Episode 10 of Season 4 of Vikings.
