The Kattegat locals chide Ragnar that the gods have deserted him as he struggles to crew his voyage to Wessex. It’s Bjorn who has charisma now as he prepares to fulfill his long-held dream to explore the Mediterranean in a sleek new boat built for him by Floki. By contrast, Ragnar must accept weathered boats and a crew he has bribed but when Aslaug foresees that the fleet will be lost in a vicious storm her warnings go un-heeded by Ragnar and her precious son, Ivar.
IGN – The second half of Vikings: Season 4 premieres November 30th at 9/8c on History and IGN’s got your first look at six new character-focused promos for the upcoming mayhem and madness.
In the two videos below, you’ll see all six teasers (split up into batches of three) featuring an aging and humbled Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), a changed Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), a conflicted Rollo (Clive Standen), and a big power struggle between Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).
We still don’t have the video from the panel so here’s an article about some details.
DEADLINE – Things were very spirited today – in more ways than one – as History’s marquee original series Vikings invaded Room 6BCF at Comic-Con this afternoon to whet fans’ appetites for the upcoming second half of Season 4, which returns to television this fall in advance of the 20-episode 5th season set to air in 2017. A very admittedly drunk Travis Fimmel (Ragnar) was joined by co-stars Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha), Clive Standen (Rollo), Gustaf Skarsgard (Floki), Alyssa Sutherland (Aslaug) and Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn) on the panel, along with writer-creator Michael Hirst for a discussion of the shocking events of the first half of season 4, what’s to come in the second half, how Hirst helped with an archaeological dig in England that may have discovered the grave of Ivar the Boneless, and more.
The panel also unveiled a new trailer for season 4, part 2, which you can see above in all its pillaging and murderous glory.
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – Creator Michael Hirst previews a season “unlike anything we’ve ever done,” plus watch the new trailer.
A new generation of Vikings are about to rise. The History drama used its platform Friday at Comic-Con to unveil the trailer for the second half of its fourth season. And judging from the new footage, the winds are beginning to change.
The trailer (below) showcases Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) returning to Kattegat after a long absence and teases how his various sons deal with his reappearance in their lives. “[He brings] calamity, chaos, tragedy and death … you should curse the day,” The Seer (John Kavanagh) warns Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) before the clip flashes to scenes of death and destruction.
Of course this is Vikings, so death and destruction are just a typical day for these people. Seeing Ragnar and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) lock lips, however, or following Bjorn to the Mediterranean, is not. THR caught up with creator and showrunner Michael Hirst to dissect some of the promo’s juicier bits ahead of the show’s anticipated fall return.
There’s imagery of changing winds in this promo — what does that mean for the season?
Lagertha is the first wife of Ragnar Lothbrok. She is an Earl, a strong shield-maiden and a force to be reckoned with. She has always fought in the shield-wall alongside the men. Although fate has pulled her apart from Ragnar, it seems that the gods must have a plan to bring them back
together, where they belong. Family: Ragnar † (first husband), Sigvard † (late husband), Rollo (former brother-in-law), Björn (son), Gyda † (daughter), Siggy † (granddaughter), Kalf † (former lover) Actor: Katheryn Winnick
Floki is a genius ship builder and he designs and builds the prototype of the new generation of Viking ships which can sail across the open ocean but also up the shallowest of rivers. Without Floki, Ragnar would have never been able to fulfill his dreams of discovering new lands and new civilizations. Floki is a religious zealot who believes in the Gods above anything and everything, including Ragnar. Family: Helga † (wife), Angrboda † (daughter) Actor: Gustaf Skarsgård
Bjorn Lothbrok is the son of Ragnar and Lagertha and the oldest of Ragnar’s many sons. Intelligent and determined, Bjorn loves and admires his father above all men. Following in Ragnar’s footsteps, Bjorn desires to test himself as a fighter as well as an explorer. After fighting in battle without receiving one wound or scratch, he garnered the famous nickname “Bjorn Ironside.” Family: Torvi (wife), Siggy † (daughter), Lagertha (mother), Ragnar † (father), Rollo (uncle), Gyda † (sister), Ubbe (brother), Hvitserk (brother), Sigurd † (brother), Ivar (brother) Actor: Alexander Ludwig
Torvi, partner of Bjorn, is a loving mother to her three children and a loyal and trustworthy friend particularly to Lagertha. Son of Ragnar. Hvitserk and his older brother Ubbe have a special bond because when they were children they jumped together in an icy lake and had to be rescued by Siggy, who died in the attempt. Hvitserk is more complex and a darker character than his brother Ubbe, characteristics which become more pronounced in time and lead to a terrible denouement. Family: Ragnar † (father), Aslaug † (mother), Rollo (uncle), Björn (half-brother), Ubbe (brother), Sigurd † (brother), Ivar (brother) Actor: Marco Ilsø
Son of Ragnar. Perhaps the most famous Viking of all time, his pathological cruelty was notorious even during his own lifetime. Family: Ragnar † (father), Aslaug † (mother), Rollo (uncle), Björn (half-brother), Ubbe (brother), Hvitserk (brother), Sigurd † (brother) Actor: Alex Høgh Andersen
Rollo, Ragnar’s brother, is impulsive, wild, care-free and compulsive. Rollo is a fierce fighter who is a fearsome berserker known to 'fight like a bear' but is often svershadowed by his brother. The relationship between Rollo and Ragnar is intense and always unpredictable. Rollo has become the Duke of Normandy after marrying Princess Gisla (the daughter of Emperor Charles) and is named defender of France from the Vikings.
